The most difficult accomplishment for anybody in this birth is to have a glimpse of the Lotus Feet of the Lord. It is very hard to have a little reflection of his toe nails even for great yogis and Mahans. It is indeed the rarest thing for all of us to be blessed with. Lord Prahalda in his beautiful Stuti to Lord Narasimha says that it is indeed very tough to have the glimpse of the feet of the Lord and having said that, he proclaims that one can still attain the holy feet of the Lord through a short cut.

The Holy Feet of the Lord is indeed the most difficult [durgani] one to accomplish. To cross the ocean of transmigration is also not easy. He beautifully addresses the Lord as his friend and well-wisher. The ferocious form that Lord Narasimha took in order to kill Hiranyakashipu was very gory and everyone including goddess Lakshmi was scared of the Lord. But Prahalada adores the Lord and addresses him as his pal. He says that he can attain the holy feet of the Lord if he is blessed with a divine association [ satsang ] of a liberated soul [great Mahan ]. A satsang with a great Guru, will make one chant the Divine Names of the Lord and hear his glories will make him easily attain the holy feet of the Lord.
Purandara Dasa says, one cannot speak about the glories of the Jeevan mukta. Even the Vedas and shastras cannot talk about the glories of the great Mahans.
“Guru bhajana cha mahima nagalae agama nigama chi “
Chookamela in one of his Abhangs proclaimed that even the Lord cannot speak about the glories of the great Mahans.
We understand the Lord through the great Mahans. People in this mundane world cannot experience the Lord and it is verily through these great souls that one can understand the Lord. The Lord does not speak and so no one can really talk about the glories of the mahatmas. Such is the greatness of a satsang. Being in the vicinity of a realized soul will bestow everything in this world including peace and make us constantly remember the Lord always.
There was an Azhwar by name Madurakavi Azhwar. He only sang the praises of his guru, Namazhawr and nothing else. He sang ten pasurams. It is called ‘Kanninun Chirutthaambu’. In all his ten pasurams he sings the glory of his guru alone. He says that there is none greater than the guru and by merely thinking of the guru, one would attain the holy feet of the Lord
“Nambuvar pathi vaikundam kanbinir”
Our Guru Maharaj says that even though he is in constant thought of his guru, all the instances that he quotes are from the life-history of Lord Krishna. The first leela being the damodara leela. In all his pasurams, he refers to some leela of Lord Krishna and admires how his guru had enjoyed that leela. The constant thought of guru will lead to bhagwan is the important point to note. Being in one such satsangs is indeed supreme. Being in the vicinity of the guru will itself bestow one with great merits. However if one is destined to be far from his guru, then chanting the Divine Names of the Lord will lead to a close communion with the sadguru and make the sadguru shower his immense grace on us.
Narayana Theerthar in his Tarangam
“Rama Krishna govindha daetaethi nama samprayagae
By incessantly chanting the Divine Names of the Lord, [sadguru krupa heatu] it is for sure that the guru’s grace will fall on us. “sanga haetu sulabhae”
By incessantly chanting the Divine Names of the Lord and listening to his divine glories will lead to the divine communion with the sadguru and the Lord.
